REPERTOIRE

Our repertoire includes a varied selection of music in different styles and from several centuries. From ancient znamenny chant all the way to Taneev’s “Ioann Damaskin” and Kastalsky’s “Requiem for Fallen Brothers”, from nameless folkloric music to Sviridov’s “Kursk Songs”. We also perform religious music from great classical composers, such as D. Bortnyatskiy, S. Degtyarev, A. Turchaninov, A. Lvov etc.

However, we focus especially on P. Tchaikovsky’s, A. Kastalsky’s, S. Rakhmaninov’s and G. Sviridov’s secular and religious compositions. In our concerts, music from Soviet Russia’s composers (post 1920) cohabitates with that of emigrant composers such as M. Kovelavsky, father and son N. Kedroff, M. Konstantinov and many others.

We sing primarily in Russian and Church Slavonic but occasionally in other languages (e.g. Latin, English, Ukrainian, Greek and Chinese).
